Requirements

  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • 1+ years of related experience and/or training in a wholesale/retail environment
  • Front line customer service experience
  • General knowledge of HVAC/R products, concepts, and the industry as a whole, or ability to learn on the job.
  • Demonstrated understanding and application of effective customer service techniques.
  • Must be able to run a point-of-sale terminal, research HVAC/R items, and help prepare required sales and customer reports.
  • Proficiency with computers to look up and cross-reference parts/equipment, and capacity to learn new software.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems and Microsoft Office Suite of products.
  • Skill in operation of power equipment, including forklift, or ability to learn on the job.
  • Ability to work independently and with teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to multitask, manage, and prioritize multiple projects while working under pressure.
  • Proactively seeks opportunities for optimizing processes and provides recommendations.
  • Problem-solving skills: listening to, interpreting, and meeting needs of others; diagnosing and rectifying problems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to meet, service, and build long-term relationships with customers.
  • Ability to read and demonstrate basic math skills, including ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide.
  • Polished and professional demeanor in person, online, and via phone.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to follow written instructions and documented procedures.
  • English proficiency (written and spoken) is a core requirement.

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ years of experience in a wholesale/retail environment in the HVAC/R or related industry.
  • Forklift experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Fulfills customer HVAC/R product needs by providing information, technical support, and special ordering.
  • Stays apprised of sales and promotional programs to increase partnerships, sales, and profitability.
  • Provides prompt, friendly, and professional service in-person and over the phone.
  • Greets customers, handles multiple requests simultaneously, and develops good working relationships.
  • Assists customers in product selection by identifying needs and troubleshooting technical problems.
  • Recommends and orders products, identifies alternatives, and proactively suggests additional items and promotions.
  • Researches and sources products using various tools, including POS system, catalogs, websites, and industry contacts.
  • Coordinates product transportation between branches if out-of-stock.
  • Determines customer replacement HVAC parts based on inspection or description.
  • Responds to sales calls, makes outgoing sales/service calls, and addresses customer complaints.
  • Processes customer transactions, including quotes, warranties, credit invoices, and returns.
  • Follows up on customer requests for information, quotes, and delivery dates.
  • Proactively communicates order delays or issues to customers.
  • Maintains showroom cleanliness and appearance through stocking shelves, housekeeping, and creating displays.
  • Conducts regular inventory counts.
  • Ensures profitability by following pricing structure, achieving sales targets, and adhering to sales processes.
  • Maintains general knowledge of HVAC/R fundamentals and product lines, staying informed of new products.
  • Communicates sales lead information to outside sales staff and management.
  • Communicates product demand and inventory changes to management.
  • Sustains a team-oriented work environment by treating colleagues and customers with professionalism and respect.
  • Reports to work as scheduled, on time, every shift.
  • Remains alert for customer issues and concerns, taking action or referring to management as needed.
  • Safeguards cash and physical assets of the store.
  • Assists in receiving, shipping, and general warehouse duties.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
