This position is located at the SC Department of Behavioral Health and Developmental Disabilities (DBHDD) - Office of Mental Health, Spartanburg Area Mental Health Center, 250 Dewey Ave, Spartanburg, SC 29303. Under general supervision performs culturally sensitive, diversified, clinical services to persons within IPS Program who have a severe mental illness and expressed employment as a desired goal. Provide collaboration with SAMHC staff, families, natural supports, housing, and transportation and other community service agencies.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in guidance, counseling, or the social sciences and professional experience in human services or social services program.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual abilities in English and Spanish (or another language) are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Provide employment planning for individuals assigned in the Individual Placement and Support (IPS) program.
  • Contact upon receiving the referral to promote employment as apart of recovery.
  • Provide outreach and engagement attempts through referrals and services.
  • Share a personal story of recovery with center, staff, clients, and or board members to promote employment as apart of recovery.
  • Carry a caseload of 20 maximum.
  • Participate in the vocational profile assessment.
  • Provide services in an individual/group setting to teach recovery concepts and help established work related goals.
  • Provide peer support services if necessary to sustain employment, stability, and engagement in treatment.
  • Established rapport with local employers regarding their business, hiring practices, and preferences.
  • Document all outreach attempts.
  • Maintain compliance with Federal, State, and Local corporate compliance laws.
  • Meet regularly with treatment team to promote IPS principles and integrated services.
  • Attend all staff meetings, center required meetings and DMH trainings.
  • Provide services within the client's current living environment, natural environment and traditional treatment settings to ensure individualized and comprehensive care.
  • Be able to pass CPR and Managing Agitation in the Psychiatric Setting (MAPS) Certification.
