About the position

The Counselor-Behavioral Health position at Ascension involves providing comprehensive behavioral health counseling services to patients. The role focuses on conducting assessments, establishing therapy goals, administering therapy sessions, and collaborating with patients, families, and healthcare providers to ensure effective treatment and support.

Responsibilities

  • Provide behavioral health counseling services.
  • Conduct patient assessments and establish therapy treatment goals.
  • Administer individual and group therapy.
  • Maintain thorough and confidential records of observations.
  • Evaluate progress and effectiveness of therapy interventions.
  • Provide patients with information regarding resources and therapeutic activities in the community.
  • Work directly with the patient, family, physician, and community providers to ensure active and collaborative care from the initiation of treatment to the time of discharge.

Requirements

  • Licensure / Certification / Registration: One or more of the following required: Licensed Clinical Counselor credentialed from the Wisconsin Board of Marriage & Family Therapy, Professional Counseling & Social Work obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Counselor credentialed from the Wisconsin Board of Marriage & Family Therapy, Professional Counseling & Social Work obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Social Worker specializing in Clinical Practice credentialed from the Wisconsin Board of Marriage & Family Therapy, Professional Counseling & Social Work obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Social Worker credentialed from the Wisconsin Board of Marriage & Family Therapy, Professional Counseling & Social Work obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • Therapist specializing in Marriage & Family credentialed from the Wisconsin Board of Marriage & Family Therapy, Professional Counseling & Social Work obtained prior to hire date or job transfer date.
  • BLS Provider preferred. American Heart Association or American Red Cross accepted.
  • Supervisor credentialed from the Wisconsin Department of Safety and Professional Services preferred.
  • Education: High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's degree/Technical degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.
