About the position
The Counselor/Assistant Professor position at Northern Michigan University is a full-time, 10-month role focused on providing comprehensive counseling services to students, particularly student athletes. Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group therapy to NMU students.
- Conduct assessments and consultations using a brief therapy model.
- Develop and implement outreach programming.
- Collaborate with the Athletic Department to support student athletes' mental health needs.
- Write timely psychological notes and reports.
Requirements
- Master's Degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, Clinical Social Work, or Professional Counseling.
- Licensed as a mental health professional in the State of Michigan or must obtain licensure within three months of hire.
- A minimum of three years licensed clinical experience.
- Experience in conducting short-term psychotherapy with a diverse population.
Nice-to-haves

- Familiarity with co-occurring assessments.
