About the position

The Counselor/Assistant Professor position at Northern Michigan University is a full-time, 10-month role focused on providing comprehensive counseling services to students, particularly student athletes. Responsibilities

  • Provide individual and group therapy to NMU students.
  • Conduct assessments and consultations using a brief therapy model.
  • Develop and implement outreach programming.
  • Collaborate with the Athletic Department to support student athletes' mental health needs.
  • Write timely psychological notes and reports.

Requirements

  • Master's Degree in Clinical or Counseling Psychology, Clinical Social Work, or Professional Counseling.
  • Licensed as a mental health professional in the State of Michigan or must obtain licensure within three months of hire.
  • A minimum of three years licensed clinical experience.
  • Experience in conducting short-term psychotherapy with a diverse population.

Nice-to-haves
