About the position

The Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) position at Adoration Home Health and Hospice is a PRN role based in Charlotte, NC, primarily covering Union County. This role offers a unique opportunity to enhance your COTA skills while providing essential one-on-one care to patients in a home care setting. The COTA will work under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist to assist patients in achieving their functional goals and improving their quality of life.

Responsibilities

• Assist in evaluating patients' functional status and teach adaptive skills under the supervision of an Occupational Therapist.
• Complete established programs to restore function, increase joint motion, and improve muscle strength and coordination through exercises and activities.
• Provide training in activities of daily living to patients.
• Observe, record, and report patients' reactions to treatments and any changes in their condition to the attending physician and occupational therapist.
• Instruct patients and their caregivers in the care and proper use of adaptive equipment and splints.
• Instruct other health team personnel, patients, and/or caregivers in therapeutic exercises.
• Document patient progress and clinical notes, submitting visit documentation per agency policy.

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited occupational therapist program.
• Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant certification in the applicable state.
• Minimum of 1 year direct patient care experience, preferably in an in-home care setting.
• Current CPR/BLS certification.
• Reliable transportation, valid driver's license, and current automobile insurance.
