About the position

The Cost Accounting Analyst at Atlantic Health System is responsible for managing cost accounting allocations and the mapping process for integration into the Decision Support System. This role requires a strong understanding of healthcare costing methodologies and effective communication skills to collaborate with hospital finance teams.

Responsibilities

  • Performance and optimization of cost accounting mapping and its integration with the Decision Support System
  • Completion of the monthly reconciliation and integration of cost into the AHS Decision Support System
  • Regular review and revision of departmental cost calculation methods such as overhead mapping allocations and revenue redirections with site CFOs
  • Establishment of quarterly Service Line Profit/(Loss), Financial Indicators and Unit Cost Reports
  • Assisting with quarterly scorecard reports
  • Supporting site CFOs with special projects including contribution margin assessments and opportunity analyses

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in health or business Administration, Accounting, Finance, Mathematics, Healthcare Informatics or Computer Science or similar subject
  • Five years of relevant experience in hospital finance, Medicare cost reporting, or hospital decision support
  • Experience utilizing cost accounting systems and GL accounts
  • Extensive knowledge of the healthcare reimbursement landscape to develop financial insights
  • Extensive experience in Excel including building financial models, pivot tables, complex formulas, macros, and VBA
  • Experience working with data visualization tools and reporting is a plus
  • Familiarity with the HPM system is a strong advantage
