About the position

Job Title: Cost Accountant Location: Indianapolis, IN (Hybrid) Salary: $65,000-$75,000 About Us: Our client is at the forefront of the manufacturing industry, dedicated to producing high-quality products while maintaining operational efficiency. They are seeking an experienced Cost Accountant to join their team and play a critical role in analyzing costs, ensuring financial accuracy, and driving profitability. As a Cost Accountant, you will be responsible for developing and maintaining cost accounting systems, ensuring accurate reporting of costs across the production cycle. You will analyze manufacturing costs, prepare reports on production costs, and recommend areas for improvement. Monitoring inventory transactions and performing periodic audits to ensure accuracy will also be part of your responsibilities. Additionally, you will assist in the month-end close of the general ledger, focusing on cost accounting, and prepare and analyze variances between actual costs and budgeted/standard costs. Collaboration with production teams to review operational performance and identify cost-saving opportunities will be essential. You will prepare reports detailing fixed and variable costs for management review and work with external auditors to provide necessary cost accounting documentation and support. Ensuring compliance with accounting principles and company policies related to cost accounting is a critical aspect of this role.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in cost accounting within the manufacturing industry.
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and cost accounting principles.
  • Experience with ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, or similar) and advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, etc.).
