About the position

The Corrosion Technician position at Energy Transfer involves applying corrosion knowledge and skills to repair, install, troubleshoot, analyze, and perform predictive and preventative maintenance tasks on equipment, facilities, systems, and associated devices within gas and liquid facilities and pipelines. The role is essential for ensuring the integrity and compliance of cathodic protection systems and involves working under general direction to maintain safety and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Provide design, installation, operation, inspection, and maintenance of cathodic protection systems within assigned pipeline segments, compressor stations, or plant facilities.
  • Maintain knowledge of regulatory requirements and complete associated documentation (OSHA, DOT, EPA, etc.).
  • Investigate and analyze corrosive conditions for existing and proposed facilities.
  • Responsible for corrosion control and compliance of cathodically protected pipelines and facilities.
  • Conduct pipe-to-soil potential surveys and document findings in the corrosion database.
  • Evaluate protective coating conditions and perform necessary repairs.
  • Understand pipeline internal corrosion mechanisms and perform related testing and analysis.
  • Perform cathodic protection design and current requirement calculations.
  • Generate and maintain reports covering rectifiers, bonds, and annual corrosion control reports.
  • Install, maintain, and repair rectifiers, anodes systems, and test stations.
  • Evaluate stray currents and take necessary actions to mitigate their effects.
  • Read and interpret pipeline maps and as-builts.
  • Use and operate safety equipment in hazardous areas.
  • Maintain safe and orderly work areas and facilities.
  • Communicate with other technicians for assistance in repairs.
  • Train others in job tasks and confirm their qualifications.
  • Participate in regulatory audits and safety programs.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Valid driver's license in state of residency.
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite products.
  • Ability to train other technicians and sign off on qualifications.

  • Associate of Applied Science - Corrosion Technology
  • NACE Corrosion Technician or Corrosion Technologist Certification
  • NACE CP level II
  • Welding school qualifications for inspection of welds.
