The Corrections Sergeant-Master plays a critical role in maintaining the safety, security, and operational efficiency of Prison Enterprises. This position oversees security operations at the main entrance checkpoint for Building 10, ensuring strict compliance with institutional access and safety protocols. In addition, the incumbent supports workforce accountability by monitoring overtime, leave, FMLA documentation, and attendance records, while serving as a trusted resource for supervisors and staff on timekeeping and compliance matters.

Requirements

  • One year of experience in a correctional, behavioral, or penal institution with responsibility for the security, custody, rehabilitation, or classification of offenders, or in law enforcement or security.
  • Possession of a high school diploma or GED; OR One year of experience in any field; OR Six months of law enforcement experience as a POST certified peace officer.
  • An applicant who has been convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence or a felony, or who is under indictment on a felony charge will be disqualified until relief from the disabilities imposed by state and federal laws is granted.
  • An applicant who has been found to have engaged in any form of sexual abuse; engaged in sexual activity in the community facilitated by force, overt or implied threats of force, or coercion, or if the victim did not consent or was unable or refused will be disqualified.
  • Applicants must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Possession of a current driver's license.

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and timely processing of all Prison Enterprises time and attendance records.
  • Serves as the primary security checkpoint officer for Prison Enterprises at the main entrance of Building 10, ensuring controlled access and adherence to institutional procedures.
  • Tracks and maintains precise accounting of employee leave balances and related records, providing reports or printouts as requested.
  • Promotes and maintains a stable, orderly, and safe environment within the assigned area, intervening early to prevent disruptions.
