About the position
The tax internship position at The Standard is designed for undergraduate or graduate students studying accounting or finance. This role provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in the field of taxation, preparing students for a successful career in this growing profession. Interns will engage in various tax-related activities, working under the supervision of a manager while also collaborating with different members of the tax department in a fully remote environment.
Responsibilities
- Aid in the preparation of quarterly and year-end tax provision calculations (ASC 740)
- Preparation of federal and state income tax returns
- Preparation of tax adjustment workpapers
- Tax related account reconciliations
- Preparation of premium tax, sales and use, and property tax returns or workpapers
- Support or preparation of daily tax withholding deposits with federal and state government entities
- Preparation of quarterly information returns and analysis
- Processing tax related payments and recording of tax related journal entries
- Engagement in process improvement projects
- Observation and meetings with executive leadership
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Undergrad or graduate student studying accounting or finance
- A desire to learn and engage with the team
- Effective communication skills
