About the position

The position involves assisting in the day-to-day operations of the Activities Department, which includes planning and executing activities and special events, as well as creating and maintaining department records and reports. The role emphasizes promoting the Sea Island legacy of warm, genuine hospitality while ensuring compliance with all departmental policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Interact with and supervise children in a group setting
  • Supervise Junior Staff and Interns during scheduled activities
  • Plan and execute regularly scheduled programs such as Camp Cloister, Cookie Cutters, and Children's Dinner
  • Create energetic, functional schedules for regularly scheduled programs
  • Create a well-balanced menu for each day of the week for Camp Cloister, Children's Dinner and special events
  • Develop creative themes, crafts and games for regularly scheduled programs
  • Plan and execute holiday programs, activities, and events
  • Plan and execute birthday parties and other private functions upon request of members or guests
  • Develop new programs to generate revenue for the Activities Department
  • Coordinate with other Sea Island departments to create BEOs, plan special requests or needs for programs, parties and holiday events
  • Assemble crafts and general supply for daily activities
  • Submit food orders for meals and keep track of food counts
  • Check activity rooms before commencement of programs to ensure the programs will be executed in accordance with Sea Island standards
  • Discuss details about holiday events with Activities Staff in a timely manner to ensure the programs will be executed in accordance with Sea Island standards
  • Maintain computer files, daily records and paper files in organized manner
  • Establish effective communication with various departments to accurately relay activities and special events information
  • Establish a strong working relationship with other Sea Island departments to assure smooth operations of events
  • Learn the names and personally recognize our regular Guests and Members
  • Record and bill orders accurately into the register system and process payments using guest/member cards
  • Maintain a thorough knowledge of current guest services, activities, dining options, shops, local attractions, and historical information regarding Sea Island and the surrounding area to answer any questions guests may have to the best of one's ability
  • Complete a Guest Problem Resolutions (GPR) form on any issues and follow-up on issues as needed
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization in all work areas
  • Uphold appropriate departmental standards of quality/timing
  • Uphold and ensure compliance with all company and departmental policies and procedures
  • Report all equipment problems and maintenance issues, known safety hazards, or unsafe practices and procedures to supervisor immediately
  • Attend all scheduled employee meetings and bring suggestions for improvement
  • Execute other duties as delegated by leadership

Requirements

  • Minimum one (1) year of hospitality/recreation experience and/or training that involved recreation programming
  • College Degree
  • Course work emphasis in Recreation or in a related field preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Professional demeanor and appearance
  • Must be adult and child CPR, AED and First Aid certified
  • Valid Georgia Driver's License
  • Must be 21 years of age or older to drive a company vehicle and pass a yearly Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) review
  • Ability to effectively operate Micros POS (point-of-sales) system
  • Ability to effectively operate Open Course, Guest Manager, Adaco and Share Point
  • Ability to learn and operate Beach Club Theater projector, Denon, and all sound equipment
  • Proficient in Windows XP and Microsoft Office software applications such as: Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook
  • Proficient with peripherals, copier, fax, telephone and calculator
  • Ability to provide simple math calculations
