About the position

The Coordinator of Student Engagement and Residence Life is responsible for overseeing student activities, managing residence life programs, and ensuring a positive living environment for students. This role involves collaboration with various departments to enhance student engagement and support services, as well as supervising on-campus residents during special events and holidays. The coordinator will also serve in the absence of the Director of Students & Residence Life, ensuring that residence halls are well-managed and that student needs are met.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and supervise all school orientation and student activities.
  • Enforce residence hall rules and regulations, and develop programs and services within established guidelines.
  • Assist with residence hall paperwork, data entry, and room assignments.
  • Attend all Residence Life staff meetings and manage room keys and keycards.
  • Perform room checks and maintenance checks as directed.
  • Assist with opening and closing residence halls during holiday periods and semesters.
  • Show prospective students residence hall rooms and provide various student services.
  • Monitor and enforce rule violations and student discipline in collaboration with the Director.
  • Coordinate training and orientation for Resident Supervisors and Resident Assistants.
  • Maintain an on-site presence in the residence hall and respond to residence life issues as needed.
  • Develop and coordinate educational, social, and cultural events for the student body.
  • Establish and manage a budget for student life programming and evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Partner with marketing to maintain a digital presence for student life programs.
  • Conduct inventory of recreation center equipment and coordinate necessary replacements.
  • Assist with enforcement of student-centered areas of recreation and coordinate supplies for the recreation center.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in student personnel, recreation, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of one-year experience in residence life, housing, or a related student service area.
  • Experience working with large groups and adult groups preferred.
  • Strong written and communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with a diverse group of people.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a college setting preferred.
  • Knowledge of facility maintenance and ability to communicate building needs.
