About The Position

The Coordinator of Special Education provides oversight, assistance, and coordination of special education services and program supports. This role is crucial in ensuring the smooth operation and effective implementation of special education programs within the school division.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university
• Currently possesses a Virginia Collegiate Professional or Postgraduate Professional License within a specific endorsement area(s)
• Three (3) years of successful, full-time, teaching experience within a public school system and/or leadership experience within a school setting

Nice To Haves

• Master’s Degree from an accredited college or university in Special Education or Administration

Responsibilities

• Coordinates Special Education services and provides program support.
• Observes and provides growth producing feedback to teachers regarding instruction, student engagement, and classroom environment.
• Assists with caseload compliance.
• Provides support to schools in all aspects of administration and implementation of services.
• Provides instructional support and the development of professional learning for teachers and staff.
• Provides assistance and coordination of Manifestation Determination Review meetings.
• Responds to inquiries from students, parents, agencies, teachers or members of the school community.
