About The Position

Cooks work in various areas including meats, vegetables, bakery, and salads. They are responsible for preparing menu items accurately and efficiently, maintaining food quality, and ensuring their assigned area is clean and organized. Cooks must also be able to assist in all back-of-house areas as needed, transition information to the next shift, and complete operational checklists.

Requirements

  • Speak and understand conversational English.
  • Read menus in English, including comprehension of basic measurements and equivalents.
  • Able to multi-task and work efficiently, effectively, accurately, and quickly to maintain stock of menu items within the assigned area.

Nice To Haves

  • Be flexible and able to assist in all areas in the back of house when needed.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare menu items for the day accurately and quickly, in accordance with projected ratios.
  • Visually observe food and discard any expired or unsuitable items, and inform management.
  • Keep assigned area clean and clutter-free, including walk-ins and reach-ins.
  • Maintain knowledge of food items and recipes to prepare food.
  • Assist in all back-of-house areas (salads, meats, vegetables) as needed, including preparation and closing.
  • When closing, discard, restock, and maintain all food items.
  • Transition the next shift cook on current day's progress, menu items, and set-ups completed.
  • Prepare set-ups and maintain organized walk-ins.
  • Complete cleaning and operational checklists.
  • Maintain attendance in accordance with the employee handbook.
