About the position
The Cook at University Nursing plays a vital role in the culinary team by preparing and serving nutritious meals while ensuring high standards of sanitation and food safety. This position is essential for enhancing the residents' dining experience and overall satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Follows recipes and prepares food that corresponds to menus meeting residents' nutritional needs.
- Cooks or prepares palatable, attractive, nutritionally adequate meals in required quantities.
- Leads kitchen staff in food preparation, assembling trays, cleaning, and storage of supplies and equipment.
- Maintains a clean food service work area during food preparation and service.
- Handles, stores, and disposes of food supplies, preparing food in compliance with departmental procedures and state and federal regulations.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED; or one to three years of related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Certification in Sanitation/Safe Food Handling preferred, unless required by State and Federal agencies.
- Prior Institutional and/or Healthcare service experience preferred.
