About the position

The Cook is a vital member of the culinary team, responsible for preparing a variety of food items in accordance with the Executive Chef's specifications. This role requires a high level of skill in various cooking techniques, including sautéing, broiling, frying, baking, and grilling, to meet the demands of the kitchen. Cooks must perform preliminary preparation work efficiently and ensure that ingredient supply levels are maintained accurately. The position involves moving items from shelves to carts and transporting them to assigned stations for restocking purposes, ensuring that the kitchen operates smoothly and efficiently. In addition to food preparation, the Cook is responsible for maintaining a sanitary and organized work area, adhering to proper safety and health codes and regulations. This includes ensuring that all assigned areas are clean and free of debris, demonstrating proper care and cleaning of all tools and equipment, and maintaining the quality and integrity of all perishables. Cooks must also prepare food products according to standard recipes and specifications, showing a willingness to learn and respond positively to training from chefs. Effective communication with other team members, including service and kitchen maintenance personnel, is essential for success in this role. Cooks may also be required to assist with other job-related duties as assigned, contributing to a collaborative and efficient kitchen environment. The position demands the ability to work in a loud, fast-paced environment, handling multiple tasks under time constraints while maintaining a neat appearance and good personal hygiene.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, sauté, broil, fry, bake, and grill food items according to kitchen needs.
  • Operate grill, fryer, broiler, oven, and French top as required.
  • Perform preliminary preparation work in a timely manner.
  • Ensure ingredient supply levels are accurate.
  • Move items from shelves to carts and transport to assigned stations for restocking purposes.
  • Maintain the required par of food items in assigned station from support areas throughout the property.
  • Maintain a sanitary and organized work area.
  • Understand and maintain proper safety and health codes and regulations.
  • Ensure all assigned areas are clean and free of debris.
  • Demonstrate proper care, storage, use, and cleaning of all tools and equipment.
  • Demonstrate competent product knowledge by correctly storing and handling all perishables.
  • Prepare food products according to standard recipes and specifications.
  • Effectively communicate with other team members, including service and kitchen maintenance personnel.
  • Assist with any other job-related duties that may be assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one year experience as a cook.
  • Effective communication in English, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work from a standing position for extended periods of time.
  • Neat appearance with good personal hygiene.
