About the position

The Cook plays a vital role in the senior living community by preparing and delivering meals while ensuring cleanliness and adherence to health regulations. This position is essential in creating a positive environment for the elders and involves collaboration with the Dining Services Director and other team members.

Responsibilities

  • Prep and prepare meals under the guidance of the Dining Services Director.
  • Ensure meals are prepared in a nutritional, appetizing fashion and presented attractively.
  • Help the Dining Services Director orient new team members and schedule.
  • Greet elders, families, visitors, and team members, creating a friendly, positive environment.
  • Ensure equipment is maintained and work areas are clean, safe, and orderly.
  • Adhere to procedures regarding infection control and foodborne illness prevention.

Requirements

  • Formally trained in the culinary arts or equivalent experience as a cook.
  • Willingness to learn and work within a team environment.
  • Organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Food handlers permit or ability to obtain one as required by state regulations.
  • Good verbal communication skills and ability to read, write, and speak English.
  • Ability to pass a criminal background check.
  • Ability to perform job responsibilities with or without accommodation.
