About the position

The Salty Processing Operator, under general supervision, is responsible for the safe, efficient and continuous operation of processing machinery. This role involves operating processing equipment to produce products within guidelines established by Quality Assurance and to the highest possible standard of quality. The operator will properly mix ingredients, monitor temperature and moisture, and make necessary adjustments. They will also communicate quality issues, read batch sheets, log temperatures and weights, and follow sanitation procedures. The position requires maintaining raw material levels, testing and maintaining oil levels, and adhering to safety and hygiene guidelines.

Responsibilities

  • Operates the processing equipment to produce product within guidelines established by Quality Assurance.
  • Properly mixes ingredients and monitors correct temperature/moisture, making adjustments as necessary.
  • Operates and shuts down equipment in the processing area according to established procedures.
  • Communicates and escalates quality issues to appropriate team members.
  • Reads and understands batch sheets, following recipes and accurately weighing raw materials.
  • Monitors and logs current temperatures, mix times, item numbers, and raw material weights, making adjustments accordingly.
  • Monitors for possible foreign matter in the product.
  • Follows sanitation procedures for clean ups and change overs, including chemical handling.
  • Tracks and disposes of waste accordingly.
  • Moves raw ingredients using material handling equipment such as forklifts and pallet jacks.
  • Maintains proper raw material levels and keeps personnel updated on raw material needs.
  • Maintains inventory usage and proper disposal of cutter blades, securing them at all times.
  • Tests and receives new oil, treating, filtering, and testing used oil, maintaining proper levels in processing equipment.
  • Maintains thorough understanding of heat exchanger system.
  • Monitors correct seasoning coverage amount and makes adjustments as necessary.
  • Practices and adheres to safety and hygiene guidelines, keeping the work area clean and free from obstructions.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 1-year production experience in a manufacturing environment required.
