About the position

The position involves preparing items as specified on menus in a professional manner, maintaining equipment, taking inventory, and placing orders for the assigned station. The role requires upholding and ensuring compliance with all company and departmental policies and procedures. The cook will be accountable for guest satisfaction by ensuring that food standards are met and addressing guest concerns in a timely manner. The cook will also be responsible for executing cooking methods efficiently and maintaining cleanliness and organization in all work areas.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for guest satisfaction by ensuring Sea Island's food standards are met
  • Address guest concerns in a timely and efficient manner
  • Uphold appropriate departmental standards of quality/timing
  • Properly execute as a member of the line staff by working constantly and cohesively in a variety of cooking methods
  • Demonstrate exemplary work ethic, technique, and productivity as a team member
  • Possess above average knife skills and proficiency in varying cooking techniques
  • Participate in menu development, documentation, and implementation
  • Follow standardized recipes and instructions from the Supervisor
  • Determine proper cooking times, temperatures, and methods
  • Assist in other departments when necessary
  • Attend training or meetings and bring suggestions for improvement
  • Maintain Sea Island's F&B standards for safety and sanitation
  • Ensure proper holding and rotating techniques for storage
  • Set up station for the following day
  • Report all equipment problems and maintenance issues to supervisor
  • Attend all scheduled employee meetings and bring suggestions for improvement
  • Execute other duties as delegated by leadership

Requirements

  • Mid Grade Cook within tier structure
  • Relevant culinary qualification and experience in either a hotel, resort or quality restaurant
  • Experience in a four or five 5 Star property desired
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proficient in Windows XP and Microsoft Office applications
  • Servsafe Certification preferred
  • Detail oriented and able to manage competing priorities
  • Positive attitude and ability to work with a variety of people
  • Ability to adapt to organizational and environmental changes
  • Flexible to working days, early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in a four or five 5 Star property desired
  • Servsafe Certification preferred
