About the position

The Convenience Department Lead at Coborn's is responsible for assisting the Senior Guest Service Manager in the operation of the retail convenience department. This role focuses on ensuring that systems and processes related to convenience services are maintained and functioning properly, while providing exceptional guest service. The lead will oversee convenience-related tasks, manage guest orders, and promote specialty products and services not typically offered by traditional grocery retailers.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the Senior Guest Service Manager in the operation of the convenience department.
  • Ensure systems and processes related to convenience services are evaluated and maintained.
  • Provide exceptional guest service by managing convenience-related tasks effectively.
  • Conduct inspections, maintenance, and cleaning of equipment related to convenience operations.
  • Support front-end operations including cashiering, bagging, and handling unique transactions.
  • Serve as a point of contact for troubleshooting technical and personnel-related issues.
  • Order supplies and maintain point of sale systems and machines.
  • Balance tills and ensure safety and cleanliness of the front-end area.
  • Perform other duties within the department or other areas as assigned.

Requirements

  • Strong customer service skills and a friendly demeanor.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
  • Experience in retail or convenience store operations is preferred.
  • Basic technical skills for troubleshooting equipment and systems.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with cash handling and bookkeeping.
  • Knowledge of convenience services such as fuel and car wash operations.
