About the position

Within our organization, the Controls Engineering Supervisor is responsible for upkeep and improvement of all automation production equipment. Work towards continuous improvement of processes, with input from Manufacturing Engineers, Operators, and Management. The Controls Engineering Supervisor is designated as a strong leader, distinguished amongst peers as being able to lead technically and show strong problem-solving skills. The Controls Engineering Supervisor will mentor & lead others within the Controls Engineering Team. Controls Engineering Supervisors effectively lead projects of greater complexity & magnitude with higher risks.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a group of Engineers (2-5 associates) while working alongside in a very technical manner.
  • Complete staff evaluations, coverage planning, time reporting, KPI reporting.
  • Assist with Machine Breakdowns and support electrical maintenance technicians.
  • Develop and Upgrade Vision Systems and products to World Class Standards.
  • Provide tools for useful data flow for manufacturing purposes, includes Machine data/Automated Text messages/Reporting Services/ETC.
  • Utilize Allen Bradley knowledge to program and update PLCs (Programming Logic Control).
  • Program and update HMI (Human Machine Interface).
  • Troubleshoot, reset, and program in the event of design changes to robots/cobots.
  • Utilize experience with electrical design, understanding and reading prints, working with OEM's to ensure quality design standards.
  • Troubleshoot Electrical Testers (connectivity, CAN/LIN) and torque controllers (Stanley, Atlas Copco or similar) as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (or related field), however willing to accept an Associates degree if experience includes 8+ or more years' experience as a Controls Engineer.
  • A minimum of 5+ years' experience in machine startup/debugging is required.
  • Ability to communicate technical data (PLC ladder logic) to staff employees on the floor and management to allow quicker troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge and experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs/HMIs is mandatory.
  • Previous experience in industrial machine debug.
  • Vision/Camera systems experience is required.
  • Cognex and Keyence systems preferred.
  • SQL 2008 or newer.
