About the position

As a Controls Engineer, your main responsibility will be to develop, implement, and support control systems for Brady's Milwaukee facilities. This position requires the ability to work and manage multiple projects simultaneously and interact with others; including manufacturing engineers, process engineers, process team members, and maintenance technicians. This is an excellent opportunity if you are a determined, self-motivated and organized individual with a desire to work in a team environment doing hands-on work with control systems, hardware, and software.

Responsibilities

  • Support and maintain continued expansion of controls and SCADA/MES systems
  • Develops, troubleshoots, maintains, and builds operations networking structure with data redundancy
  • Identify, document, and perform duties required to install and maintain control systems including PLC's, drives, HMIs, and other controls related hardware
  • Create, update, and maintain locally supported production and maintenance related software
  • Assist maintenance technicians with related troubleshooting and maintain support contracts
  • Research suppliers, contractors, and companies used to repair, replace, and/or manufacture parts including submitting purchase orders
  • Interpret and maintain documents, prints, and schematics
  • Provide a flexible schedule during the normal workweek (Mon-Fri) for unexpected repairs and variations in workload
  • Performs other duties as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or equivalent experience (Software, Electrical, Controls, etc)
  • Minimum 2 years of electrical control systems & industrial automation related experience
  • Demonstrated experience with electrical control systems and control logic
  • Able to evaluate mechanical and control systems, understand how/why they work
  • Able to multitask and effectively handle multiple assignments through effective project prioritization and time management
  • Understanding of basic IT network infrastructures, topology, security, and functionality
  • Understanding of ladder logic and ability to program PLCs including but not limited to; Allen Bradley PLCs, PanelView HMIs, and related software
  • Understanding of A/C and D/C drives, process control, as well as programming and troubleshooting PLC controlled machines
  • Understanding of statistical process control fundamentals
  • Knowledgeable in functional safety design
  • Able to comply with safety regulations and maintain a clean and orderly work area
