The Airport Technologies (ATEC) division specializes in airport baggage conveyor security systems, including traditional systems and innovative material handling solutions. Controls engineers in ATec design and build airport automation systems, requiring a blend of mechanical, electrical, logistical, and software knowledge. Automated Screening Lanes (ASLs) are a key growth area, dispensing bins to passengers at security checkpoints and automating the process of conveying belongings through security screening. The company is seeking a Controls Engineer I to join this innovative team.

Requirements

Experience with Allen Bradley PLC ControlLogix programming.
AutoCAD experience.
Experience with material handling equipment.

Responsibilities

Participate in the fabrication of electrical, mechanical, and software portions of the ASL.
Thoroughly test the ASLs once assembled.
Travel to major airports to ensure the ASLs are properly installed.
Assist customers with support.
Participate in teams responsible for the electrical/controls portion of airport baggage security systems.
Design electrical and/or software elements to meet project specifications within schedule and budget.
Write technical specifications.
Design control panels.
Debug PLC programs.
Commission systems.
In-house fabrication and testing of Automated Screening Lanes (ASL).
Demonstrations of ASLs to internal and external customers.
Travel to customer sites.
Support to our AGV (Automatic Guided Vehicles) division.
Installation and technical support of PLC based hardware and software.
Design electrical/PLC control systems, including specifying work for electrical device and layout drawings, motor control panel drawings, and wiring schematics.
Perform control system and software changes; create and modify system specifications and operating procedures.
Program, troubleshoot, and repair sensors, scanners, visualization systems, motors, frequency inverters and encoders.
Participate in testing and commissioning efforts at major airports.
Support proposals and customer inquiries.
Meet timelines to ensure projects stay on schedule and on budget.
50% travel to jobsites.
