About the position

The Controller at Total Comfort Group plays a crucial role in the leadership team, overseeing the accounting department. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate financial record-keeping, compliance with policies, and the implementation of internal controls to safeguard the company's interests.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and analyze monthly operational results against forecast/budget for all divisions.
• Ensure adherence to internal controls related to all financial operations and reporting.
• Manage operations in the accounting department, including billing, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and general ledger.
• Review and assist in the preparation of month and year-end financial statements for both external and internal processes.
• Ensure the accurate and timely completion of all month-end processes.
• Prepare and coordinate the preparation of financial management reports as required.
• Participate in the budgeting function.
• Research various sales tax issues and integrate with the sales tax preparation software.
• Responsible for the compliance and execution of various financial controls and procedures within the business.
• Mentor and develop finance and accounting staff, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous learning.
• Monitor and manage remote employees.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in accounting.
• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience with a minimum of 3 years as a manager/controller.
• Proven experience managing a general ledger of a company and running a month-end close process from start to finish.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Experience with process design.
• Experience with systems implementation/integration.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate accounting and financial information in common language.
