About the position

The Contract Coordinator II position at the Florida Department of Transportation involves overseeing contractor activities on maintenance contracts to ensure compliance with contract documents and administration procedures. The role includes creating and verifying work documents, conducting field reviews, preparing contract documents, and managing contractor correspondence. The position requires effective communication and problem-solving skills, as well as the ability to maintain accurate records and relationships with contractors and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee contractor activities on maintenance contracts to ensure adherence to contract documents and procedures.
  • Create, issue, and verify work documents for contractors, indicating work locations and pay item quantities.
  • Conduct field reviews with contractors as needed.
  • Develop and prepare preliminary plans, specifications, estimates, and related contract documents for assigned contracts.
  • Conduct pre-work meetings to clarify scope of work and expected results with contractors.
  • Prepare contract renewal documents and draft maintenance agreements with municipalities.
  • Verify invoices and generate pay estimates in Site Manager, entering data in the Maintenance Management System.
  • Complete Notice of Beginning and Ending letters and Contractor Field Performance Reports as directed.
  • Coordinate and assist in performing work need surveys for maintenance contract work plans.
  • Evaluate work plans for conflicts with existing utilities, projects, and local stakeholders.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Certificate of High School Equivalency and two years of infrastructure design, construction, or maintenance experience, or an Associate's Degree.
  • Valid Class E Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
  • Knowledge of engineering concepts and repair inspection.
  • Skilled in verbal and written communications.
  • Proficient in using computer programs such as Word and Excel.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in contract administration and oversight.
  • Familiarity with engineering terminology and standards.
  • Ability to analyze and resolve problems using engineering judgment.
