About The Position

The Continuous Improvement Lead will champion application of Lean, Six Sigma, and Analytics techniques at Pratt & Whitney’s Ceramic Matrix Composite Enterprise and will be located at the Center of Excellence, located in Carlsbad, CA. The Ceramic Matrix Composite Center of Excellence develops transformative materials and components for high temperature environments - making aircraft engines more powerful, fuel efficient and lighter. The Continuous Improvement Lead supports processes used in the design and manufacturing of ceramic matrix composites – both creation & improvement. Qualified candidates will have experience applying said techniques and delivering measurable results. Influence site personnel to integrate CORE (CORE is Raytheon’s continuous improvement and business management tool set) methods and tools into daily work. Delivers measurable Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost results while improving teamwork, collaboration, and innovation. Communicates with management team and the CMC steering committee regarding matters of significant importance. Develops and implements new products, processes and standards. Supports Quality Management System (QMS) procedure creation and improvement related to Continuous Improvement. Improves existing processes and practices. Analyzes test results and identifies process optimums. Becomes a recognized CORE methods and Analytics expert, supporting site personnel in Kaizens, engagements, projects, and daily work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from an Accredited University or a Bachelor’s degree Chemistry, Physics or Mathematics.
  • A minimum 10 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in the previously described fields with a minimum of 7 years experience.
  • Six Sigma Black Belt certification or equivalent is required
  • US Citizenship required as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Nice To Haves

  • High proficiency in LEAN methods and experience in delivering value through their application.
  • Design of Experiments / Taguchi Methods - planning & execution.
  • Design for Six Sigma knowledge and demonstrated success developing robust, new processes.
  • Complex process monitoring and analytics.
  • Turbine Component and or composite manufacturing experience.
  • Influence, teambuilding and new facility start up experience preferred.
