About the position

The Continuous Improvement Engineer I is responsible for leading and implementing lean manufacturing initiatives and continuous improvement processes within the organization. This role focuses on fostering a culture of continuous improvement, training employees on lean methodologies, and ensuring sustainable results through effective project management and collaboration across various departments. The engineer will act as a change agent, working closely with teams to enhance manufacturing processes and product quality while supporting the overall operational goals of the company.

Responsibilities

  • Support and assist with the development and implementation of lean manufacturing training programs.
  • Learn existing processes to develop and maintain manufacturing standard work.
  • Audit processes to ensure standards and lean initiatives are sustained.
  • Participate in Performance Improvement Team (PIT) activities.
  • Work with associates to learn all manufacturing processes from raw materials to final assembly.
  • Act as a lead change agent for lean manufacturing implementation and process improvement.
  • Foster a lean transformation culture while educating on lean tools and techniques.
  • Lead and work well in a team environment to handle large projects and meet deadlines.
  • Aid in the selection of new machines, tooling, and processes to meet productivity objectives.
  • Ensure product quality and on-time delivery, assisting the Quality Department with corrective actions.
  • Work with Supply Chain to implement improvements and monitor production reporting.
  • Coordinate downtime, changeover, scrap, and rework reporting, investigating data and implementing corrective actions.
  • Develop and implement best practices for lean manufacturing and product quality improvements.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree required, ideally related to continuous improvement or three to five years' equivalent experience.
  • Three to five years' experience in lean manufacturing work.
  • Demonstrated leadership skills with emphasis on cross-functional team development.
  • Experience implementing continuous improvement and knowledge of TPS philosophies.
  • Proficient in blueprint reading and Microsoft Office tools including Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to learn and adapt to new processes.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with nationally recognized testing laboratories such as UL.
  • Background in sheet metal manufacturing, welding, paint systems, and electrical and electronic component assembly.
