About the position

The Contact Center Specialist plays a crucial role in supporting patients by managing new patient registrations and providing information about SRS features and programs. This position involves answering incoming calls, verifying insurance eligibility, and operating electronic health record systems to ensure accurate patient information is recorded. The specialist is expected to deliver high-quality customer service in a fast-paced environment while meeting established performance metrics.

Responsibilities

  • Support patients by completing new patient registration and acclimating them to SRS features and programs.
  • Answer incoming calls for Sharp Rees Stealy Medical Centers and interact with patients to obtain necessary demographic information.
  • Verify insurance eligibility prior to scheduling appointments using automated eligibility systems.
  • Operate electronic health record systems to obtain and record patient information.
  • Communicate effectively with patients and clinic staff, ensuring clear messaging.
  • Provide high-level customer service while meeting established metrics in a fast-paced environment.
  • Update patient demographics and appointment site locations, verifying collector codes as needed.
  • Screen and direct phone calls, relaying accurate and complete messages to appropriate parties.
  • Respond to patient inquiries via chat or email, providing real-time support and guidance.
  • Manage scheduling tasks and ensure optimal phone coverage to meet service goals.

Requirements

  • H.S. Diploma or Equivalent
  • 1 year of relevant work experience in customer service, retail, or call center; or two years of post-secondary education or higher.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience serving customers in a service-oriented environment, preferably in a call center or medical office.
