About The Position

The Consultant position at DEKRA is a full-time role focused on driving safety performance improvement through client engagements. Consultants are critical to the success of client engagements, acting as a liaison between the front lines and the c-suite. The primary objective is to leverage organizational change knowledge to achieve client results, serve as a trusted advisor, and expand existing client relationships. This involves coaching and mentoring project teams with candid feedback to ensure the effective delivery of DEKRA's consulting solutions. Success in this role requires a deep understanding of DEKRA's core solutions, the ability to adapt them to client needs, and an understanding of how they integrate into the client's organization.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • 8+ years of experience in organizational change, or operations with safety responsibility, or in an industrial consulting role, or in a safety role.
  • Presence in front of Leaders – first line though senior manager.
  • Demonstrated cognitive flexibility.
  • Ability to successfully navigate client ambiguity.
  • Ability to develop deep knowledge of DEKRA solutions.
  • Ability to interpret the impact of non-safety processes on safety and culture.
  • Ability to develop a strategic plan which supports the scope of work and overall safety excellence.
  • Ability to manage client excellence and DEKRA business.
  • Ability to create a project team culture that supports and aligns with business values.
  • Fluency with various Governance structures and how they “fit” and function in various situations.
  • Fluency with leading and lagging metrics and the ability to proposes specific metrics for the client.
  • Fluency in applying effective change management.
  • Fluency in Safety Management System best practices and ability to propose enhancements to close gaps.
  • Ability to lead a matrixed team.
  • Ability to develop others.
  • English and bi-lingual English/Spanish speaking candidates needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree preferred.
  • CSP or equivalent certification/license.
  • LEAN Green/Black Belt preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Delivering workshops and presentations to groups of various sizes.
  • Conducting one-on-one or small group field coaching with clients.
  • Performing client-related project management, working on smaller to gradually larger and more complex projects (with advancement to Project Lead Consultant).
  • Understanding client objectives and needs and adapting the centerline model for the client engagement.
  • Understanding the role of Governance in Safety and establishing effective safety governance aligned with the client's organizational structure.
  • Guiding and facilitating measurable governance.
  • Delivering DEKRA’s suite of solutions with mastery of concepts and industry subject matter expertise.
  • Utilizing centerline positions and materials to illustrate DEKRA’s Point of View on leadership, safety, and project execution.
  • Coaching client leaders from the frontlines to senior leaders and becoming their trusted advisor.
  • Tracking progress in meeting client objectives and adjusting as necessary.
  • Developing a communication structure to stay updated on client situations, including safety performance, business challenges, and industry trends.
  • Communicating routinely and effectively to the client leadership team.
  • Practicing honesty and truthfulness with the client in a manner that preserves the relationship.
  • Creating excellent internal deliverables for peers and project leaders.
  • Meeting deadlines.
  • Enabling and managing the success of the project team when leading others.
  • Assuring all solutions are integrated and aligned toward meeting client objectives.
  • Communicating routinely and effectively to the delivery team and the overall project team.
  • Assuring the project team delivers to the client’s adaptation of the centerline across all parts of the client organization.
  • Delivering performance-related feedback to individual consultants, including areas for improvement and recognition.
  • Escalating project-related consultant success stories and guidance feedback to appropriate management levels.
  • Contributing to a safe and healthy work environment by actively participating and following procedures.
  • Maintaining a complete and accurate project plan, including consultant scheduling.
  • Meeting goals for delivering billable hours and working on assigned internal projects.
  • Managing projects toward stated realization rates and ensuring effective utilization of consultants.
  • Achieving monthly forecast accuracy.
  • Expanding the scope of client relationships and maintaining long-term engagements by identifying opportunities.
  • Maintaining a professional brand of credibility internally and externally.
  • Gaining acceptance by existing clients to be references for future projects.

Benefits

  • Compensation: $105,000 annually to $195,000 annually.
  • Full-time, Regular status.
  • Exempt FLSA Classification.
