About the position

The Construction Testifying Expert plays a crucial role in supporting attorneys and insurance carriers by providing expert opinions and testimony on complex technical matters within the construction and building industries. This position requires extensive experience in construction, as well as the ability to analyze and present findings related to construction disputes, potential liabilities, and damages. The ideal candidate will thrive in a collaborative environment and be passionate about uncovering the root causes of construction issues while providing clear and cost-effective solutions.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the designated Expert Witness for lawsuits and insurance claims.
  • Provide Expert Witness Testimony including deposition, arbitration, and trial.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing & Sales team to develop an Expert marketing strategy and prepare necessary documents.
  • Attend pre-project calls with clients to discuss project details and determine required expertise.
  • Attend site investigations to inspect structures and conditions relating to construction.
  • Document site conditions with photographs, notes, diagrams, and checklists.
  • Review, analyze, and summarize construction and legal documents.
  • Conduct research on building codes, standards of care, and construction best practices.
  • Prepare scopes of work and cost estimates.
  • Present site observations, document analysis, and cost estimates to Technical Experts.
  • Attend meetings and mediations with clients to gather project information or present work.
  • Track time billed to clients and maintain billable hour targets.
  • Collaborate with management to set and pursue professional development goals.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of construction experience or a blend of relevant education and field experience required.
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, civil engineering, architecture, or a related field (advanced degree or professional licensure preferred).
  • Prior experience serving as a designated Expert Witness in construction-related litigation.
  • Applicable licenses and certifications that support expertise.
  • Strong ability to think critically and analyze problems effectively.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
