About The Position

As a valuable member of the Construction Management Team, you represent our company’s interest by providing oversight where construction (mechanical installation, facilities and sitework, etc.) and other related project management requests are implemented. You will lead all parties to deliver the project through our company’s standard for Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), Quality (QA), and Operational Excellence (OpEx). The Construction Project Manager (CPM) is a “Change Ambassador” to our projects in the plant. Through your actions, you demonstrate alignment with Altium Guiding Principles. You are accountable for being the project’s liaison to all things construction at the site while managing all aspects of the change at the site. Your leadership leads all changes initiatives in the project. The Construction Project Manager (CPM) is positioned to work closely with the assigned Project Manager to effectively manage the opportunities from pre-construction, assist when asked in procurement, sequencing installation tasks, training, and commissioning. All of these are critical characteristics in supporting our project deliverables that set Altium up for safe, successful vertical startups.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering required; (Mechanical, Construction Management, Industrial)
  • Minimum of 5 years project management and/or project engineering, preferably in a role of installing production lines, facility build and infrastructure changes and significant upgrades.
  • Experience in directing, leading, and influencing a cross-functional team of technical and non-technical professionals
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and to correctly prioritize these tasks.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing plant environment.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated proficiency in use of Microsoft Project/Smartsheet, typical scheduling software
  • Proficient computer skills including Microsoft Office programs and AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

  • Review and/or develop constructability plans for the assigned project during the investment development.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to prequalify vendors and contractors suitable for project requirements.
  • Work with SME and the infrastructure Team for tasks such as initial electrical planning for the installation and all mechanical systems and utilities.
  • Identify all environmental impacts and permit fees (or changes to existing) assessment, control systems for emissions (water/air) and SWPP.
  • Lead all daily contractor safety (Daily Safe Work Permit) requirements and daily on-site permitting.
  • Ensure specific safety related programs for Fall Protection, Confined Space with permit, Manual work/lifting, Infection Control, Respiratory Protection, First Aid Treatment, Fire prevention, Hearing Conservation, Hot-Work (with permit), Lift Plans (with permit) Program, Forklifts, Lock Out Tag Out (individual/group), Scaffolding, Excavation, Hoisting/Rigging and Metal Erection are in place.
  • Act on unsafe conditions or perceived issues as they become known.
  • Mitigate any risks as soon as they are determined.
  • Ensure all contractors comply with the iLobby system for security, confidentiality, and quality systems.
  • Organize Human Resources (HR) requirements; Job site laws, permitting, HAZCOMM, permits, work permits in a defined meeting space.
  • Direct site activities for all construction (new & partial) related to the assigned project and manage the critical path.
  • Lead onsite contractors in sequential assignments related to their functional areas.
  • Ensure field coordination with all vendors and site operations.
  • Implement the project plan by managing “scheduled” line downtime and avoiding impact to customer requirements.
  • Implement Altium engineering standards and provide feedback and input to observations during implementation of the project.
  • Work closely with all internal stakeholders and other cross-functional departments to ensure all ongoing plant changes are clearly communicated and documented.
  • Provide accurate and timely reporting through email, spreadsheets and use of SmartSheets.
  • Document weekly progress in a defined format, narratives, one-page summaries, etc.
  • Ensure necessary documents are provided to support construction permitting.
  • Follow local requirements, typically submit for permitting and then receive a notice to proceed.
  • Post accordingly, work with local officials to coordinate inspections and closing of all permits.
  • Build out Asset install schedules, capturing all assets (new, existing, etc.) and prepare data for asset creation in ERP, fixed assets (identify, transfer, disposal), and Arc Flash data collection (new or changes).
  • Act as Project Manager for smaller projects, collaborating with Project Development for safe and timely vertical startup.
