About the position

The Construction Manager - Power Generation at We Energies is responsible for overseeing and coordinating construction activities for major engineering projects in the power generation sector. This role involves collaboration with contractors, suppliers, and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with environmental and safety standards while managing project execution from planning to closeout.

Responsibilities

  • Perform as a resident site member of the owner's project team.
  • Participate in a collaborative relationship with team members including the owner's staff, contractors, suppliers, landowners, and agencies.
  • Ensure all construction activities comply with environmental permits, regulatory requirements, and other agreements.
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with municipal and regulatory agencies, landowners, and the public.
  • Ensure daily activities of contractors and suppliers align with contract terms and project schedules.
  • Manage receipt inspection and quality control processes to ensure suppliers meet technical specifications.
  • Oversee equipment storage and maintenance management.
  • Coordinate project schedule development and monitor site activities for efficiency.
  • Lead and enforce a proactive safety program in collaboration with contractors and engineering firms.
  • Assist in developing and monitoring budget and cash flow goals.
  • Inspect work in progress to ensure consistency with issued drawings and specifications.
  • Manage the Quality Control Inspection Program (QCIP) as applicable.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management preferred, or significant experience in construction engineering in lieu of a degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years of construction engineering or related experience such as plant operations or maintenance engineering.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Hands-on experience in power plant projects, including knowledge of codes and construction industry procedures.
  • Familiarity with large construction equipment such as excavators and cranes.
  • Experience working with union building trades and administration of multi-million dollar contracts.

  • Ability to adhere to, maintain, and enforce safety standards and protocols.
  • Knowledge of OSHA 10 and 30 regulations.
