About the position

As a Construction Management, II at ENGIE North America, you will play a vital role in managing construction projects focused on energy and utility improvements at the University of Iowa. This position involves overseeing various projects related to electric and thermal energy production, distribution, and wastewater infrastructure, ensuring safety and compliance with standards throughout the construction process. You will coordinate with multiple stakeholders, prepare safety and quality assurance plans, and provide oversight during all project phases, from planning to completion.

Responsibilities

  • Manage safe and efficient construction projects across the University of Iowa Campus.
  • Conduct meetings with employees, subcontractors, and stakeholders to discuss project progress and issues.
  • Prepare and execute Health & Safety, Environmental, Quality Assurance, and Quality Control plans for projects.
  • Walk job sites to coordinate with GIS analysts and ensure proper identification of buried utilities.
  • Check on safety and project completion during the construction phase.
  • Consult with Engineers, Contractors, and Project Management to ensure compliance with standards and specifications.
  • Communicate project progress, issues, and concerns to stakeholders.
  • Coordinate service outages with stakeholders in advance of project work.
  • Provide QA/QC oversight to ensure work meets specifications and passes inspections.
  • Lead the punch list and commissioning processes at project completion.
  • Support bidder site visits and manage Requests for Information (RFI).
  • Assist in cost estimation and scheduling for projects in development/design.
  • Review change requests and monthly payment applications from Contractors.
  • Provide field input to assist the project manager in tracking schedule and budget performance.
  • Partner with project engineers to develop a project procedures manual.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED.
  • Two years of experience in managing industrial or municipal construction projects.
  • Practical understanding of design, construction, and operations of thermal plants and distribution.
  • Experience in adhering to safety standards and ensuring safety for all involved parties.
  • Ability to create a team culture of integrity and trust among project team members.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution and listening to others' ideas.
  • Experience in evaluating requests for quotes and proposals in industrial construction environments.
  • Experience in managing subcontractors and contracts administration.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Procore, or other Project Management tools for creating reports and updates.
  • Practical problem-solving and root cause analysis skills.
