This position performs a range of duties related to inspecting residential and commercial construction, public works, public utilities, and private development construction projects, including housing, streets, water and sanitary sewer projects, and fiber installation. Duties include field inspection of construction worksites to ensure compliance with construction codes as well as safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform field observations of the Contractor's activities to ensure that the project is built according to the plans, specifications, approved submittals, and RFI responses.
  • Observe, document, and record daily activities.
  • Prepare and submit field quantity records for payment.
  • Attend and or lead weekly project site meetings with the Contractor, Client staff, other consultant staff, utility companies, and others associated with the project construction as required.
  • Assist in providing training and technical assistance to new and less experienced inspection personnel.
  • Perform a variety of inspection, and documentation duties on a construction project including inspecting earthwork, concrete placement, asphaltic concrete placement, guardrail, catch basins, and sign installations.
  • Conduct structural inspections to include seismic upgrades, retaining walls, drilled shafts, pile driving activities, and other similar activities.
  • Inspect waterline installations and joint utility trenches.
  • Conduct residential and commercial building inspections.

Requirements

  • Experience with NMDOT or AZDOT specifications and procedures desired.
  • Traffic Control Supervisor certification is a plus, we would be willing to assist in attaining this certification.
  • Residential or Commercial Inspection certification is a plus, we would be willing to provide training and pay for certification tests.
  • Experience maintaining construction records, documenting daily construction activities and writing related reports.
  • Familiarity with administration of construction public works contracts.
  • Familiarity with construction processes methods.
  • Familiarity with construction specifications and requirements.
  • Familiarity with QA/QC requirements.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Valid Driver's License required.
  • Must be willing to travel as needed to job sites.
  • Ability to interact effectively, problem solve and partner with citizens, community members and contractors.
  • Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with a diverse group.
  • Ability to read and interpret construction plans, specifications, codes, laws and contracts.
