About the position
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Construction Estimator to join our team. The ideal candidate will play a critical role in the bidding process by accurately estimating project costs, analyzing contracts, and ensuring effective cost control throughout the construction process. This position requires strong project management skills and a deep understanding of construction practices.
Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates for construction projects, including labor, materials, and overhead.
- Analyze blueprints and other documentation to prepare time, cost, materials, and labor estimates.
- Collaborate with project managers and other stakeholders to ensure accurate pricing and contract compliance.
- Utilize software tools such as HeavyBid and Bluebeam for estimating and project management tasks.
- Conduct site visits to assess conditions and gather necessary information for accurate estimates.
- Monitor project costs throughout the lifecycle to maintain budgetary control.
- Communicate effectively with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain quotes and negotiate prices.
- Prepare reports detailing estimated costs versus actual expenditures for review.
Requirements
- Proven experience in construction estimating or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of construction management principles and practices.
- Proficiency in using estimating software such as HeavyBid and Bluebeam.
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail in pricing and cost control.
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints, contracts, and technical specifications.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Effective communication skills for collaboration with team members, clients, and subcontractors.
- A degree in Construction Management or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.
