About the position

The Compounding Technician II at Option Care Health plays a crucial role in the preparation and compounding of medications under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist. This position is essential for ensuring safe and accurate medication compounding operations, contributing to the overall quality of care provided to patients with acute and chronic conditions. The technician will spend a significant portion of their time in a clean room environment, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and compliance with regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Assists pharmacist with the preparation and dispensing of medications and supplies in accordance with OCH policies & procedures, and in accordance with state regulations & standards.
  • Prepares medications so they are accurately compounded.
  • Performs basic pharmaceutical calculations to obtain correct dosages of medications.
  • Assists with ensuring quality standards are met by reviewing and inspecting compounded & packaged medications.
  • Ensures all compounding and packaging is inspected and approved by a licensed pharmacist.
  • Ensures pharmacy surfaces and laminar flow hoods are cleaned and sanitized.
  • Calibrates equipment to ensure accurate functioning.
  • Assists with recording and maintaining pharmacy temperature & cleaning logs.
  • Trains and mentors Compounding Technician I's.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Minimum of 2 years of pharmacy technician experience.
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT).
  • Must be licensed or registered (if required by the state).
  • Experience providing customer service to internal and external customers, including meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Able to perform basic & intermediate level mathematical calculations.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Basic level skill in Microsoft Word.
  • Basic level skill in Microsoft Excel.
  • Basic skill level in Microsoft PowerPoint.

Nice-to-haves

  • Previous healthcare or pharmacy technician experience is preferred.
