About the position

The Composites and Bonding Specialist at Spirit AeroSystems is responsible for overseeing the manufacturing of completed units, ensuring quality and compliance with product requirements. This role involves interfacing with various stakeholders, fabricating parts from composite and bonded materials, and managing assembly processes. The specialist will also engage in project management and strategic planning to support the production of aerostructures for commercial and defense customers.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the assembly of components into subassemblies and the joining of structural assemblies.
  • Install systems (mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic) using various fastening methods.
  • Test assemblies with mechanical, electrical, and electronic test equipment.
  • Interface with engineering, management, suppliers, and customers to meet product requirements.
  • Fabricate detail parts and subassemblies from composite and bonded materials using various fabrication equipment.
  • Provide complete composite/bonding fabrication details and subassemblies.

Requirements

  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in a leadership or management role.
  • High School Diploma or GED.

Nice-to-haves

  • At least 3 years' experience in Aerospace.
  • At least 3 years' experience in a leadership/management role.
  • Associate or Bachelor's Degree.
  • Experience working with multiple cross functional groups (Quality, Assembly, Procurement, Supply Chain, Machining, etc.).
  • Experience developing and managing a statement of work on time and within budget.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience using SAP.
  • Ability to work any shift, including alternative work weeks.
  • Experience working in a union environment with collective bargaining agreements.
  • Experience monitoring cost.
  • Experience managing projects.
  • Experience with strategic planning.
  • Experience working with new product introduction (NPI).
