About The Position

Crane Aerospace & Electronics is seeking a Component and Failure Analysis Engineer II-III (level dependent on experience) for an on-site role at their Lynnwood, WA facility. This role involves analyzing failures and construction of aerospace and defense electronic components and assemblies using advanced diagnostic tools and techniques. The engineer will perform tests and imaging to assess component integrity and compliance with specifications, and prepare clear reports for internal and external use. Crane Aerospace & Electronics supplies critical systems and components to the aerospace and defense markets, operating in demanding environments such as engines, landing gear, satellites, medical implants, missiles, and unmanned aerial systems. The Lynnwood facility specializes in power and fluid solutions for aerospace and defense.

Requirements

  • Component and Failure Analysis Engineer II: 2+ years of experience performing component-level analysis in electronics equipment.
  • Component and Failure Analysis Engineer III: 5+ years of experience performing component-level analysis in electronics equipment.
  • Demonstrated expertise performing analyses on a variety of EEE (Electrical, Electronic, and Electromechanical) components, including an understanding of key characteristics and potential failure modes and mechanisms.
  • Demonstrated skills using electrical test equipment, temperature chambers, X-Ray Imaging, Optical Imaging, Scanning Electron Microscopy, Electron Dispersive Spectroscopy and X-Ray Fluorescence.
  • Demonstrated multi-tasking and prioritization skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow and improve processes.
  • Ability to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish tasks.
  • Ability to work well within a team environment.
  • BA or BS degree in Materials Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related technical area.
  • Eligibility Requirement: This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US Persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Nice To Haves

  • Desire to perform “hands-on” evaluation of components and assemblies.
  • Ability to develop new applications for existing tools and to determine the best option for a particular failure analysis.

Responsibilities

  • Perform Component-Level failure and construction analyses on a variety of Electrical, Electronic, and Electromechanical components and assemblies used in Aerospace and Defense applications.
  • Use multiple tools during the analyses, including electrical test equipment, temperature chambers, X-Ray Imaging, Optical Imaging, Scanning Electron Microscopy, Electron Dispersive Spectroscopy and X-Ray Fluorescence.
  • Prepare analysis reports for internal and external customers conveying complex information in a concise and insightful manner.
