About The Position

Crane Aerospace & Electronics supplies critical systems and components to the aerospace and defense markets. This role involves analyzing failures and construction of aerospace and defense electronic components and assemblies using advanced diagnostic tools and techniques. The engineer will perform tests and imaging to assess component integrity and compliance to specifications, and prepare and publish clear reports for internal and external use. The Lynnwood, Wash., facility delivers industry-leading aerospace & defense power and fluid solutions.

Requirements

  • Component and Failure Analysis Engineer II: 2+ years of experience performing component-level analysis in electronics equipment.
  • Component and Failure Analysis Engineer III: 5+ years of experience performing component-level analysis in electronics equipment.
  • Demonstrated expertise performing analyses on a variety of EEE (Electrical, Electronic, and Electromechanical) components, including an understanding of key characteristics and potential failure modes and mechanisms.
  • Demonstrated skills using the above-listed tools, along with the desire to perform “hands-on” evaluation of components and assemblies.
  • Ability to develop new applications for existing tools and to determine the best option for a particular failure analysis.
  • Demonstrated multi-tasking and prioritization skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow and improve processes.
  • Ability to rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish tasks.
  • Ability to work well within a team environment.
  • BA or BS degree Materials Science & Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related technical area.
  • This position may require access to Controlled Data or Information. Where the position requires such access only US Persons will be considered. As a US Department of Defense contractor, we are bound by International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Responsibilities

  • Perform Component-Level failure and construction analyses on a variety of Electrical, Electronic, and Electromechanical components and assemblies used in Aerospace and Defense applications.
  • Use multiple tools during the analyses, including electrical test equipment, temperature chambers, X-Ray Imaging, Optical Imaging, Scanning Electron Microscopy, Electron Dispersive Spectroscopy and X-Ray Fluorescence.
  • Prepare analysis reports for internal and external customers conveying complex information in a concise and insightful manner.
