About the position

The Compliance Supervisor position at St. Johns River Water Management District is a supervisory role responsible for leading and managing compliance teams in the Jacksonville and Palatka Service Centers. The role involves reviewing technical documents, providing support to staff, managing compliance workloads, and ensuring adherence to performance goals and mission objectives.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage compliance teams in Jacksonville and Palatka Service Centers.
• Review and sign-off on technical documents for compliance determinations.
• Meet and communicate with staff regularly to ensure consistency in compliance efforts.
• Provide technical support to the compliance team.
• Monitor, manage, and balance the compliance/enforcement workload.
• Facilitate the resolution of elevated projects and keep leadership informed on projects of heightened concern.
• Review permit files, plans, legal documents, and other records for compliance determinations.
• Respond to complaints and public information requests.
• Prepare and review reports and correspondence related to compliance actions.
• Conduct training sessions for staff and stakeholders.
• Initiate enforcement actions and prepare enforcement packages.
• Negotiate settlements and coordinate with the Office of General Counsel.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, environmental science, or a related field.
• Six years of professional experience in the environmental or water resources field, including experience leading a project team or coordinating activities of a work group.
• Valid State of Florida Driver's License.
