About The Position

This role is responsible for managing the Mortgage Banking’s Quality Assurance (QA) program and coordinating loan file collection for audits or examinations. The specialist will assemble and provide necessary files and/or documentation for QA reviews, analyze the cause of errors, and communicate findings to department staff. They will also perform internal quality assurance reviews of files tested by external vendors and develop internal QA reviews to ensure compliance with federal and state laws, agency and client guidelines. The position involves preparing reports of findings, maintaining records, and participating in the review of policies and procedures for continuous quality improvement. The specialist will also execute assigned responsibilities by the Compliance Control Manager, including special projects.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on regulatory compliance experience on designated laws and regulations
  • Minimum 5 years of banking or financial industry experience
  • Knowledge of consumer protection laws and regulations: (e.g. ECOA, FHA, HMDA, etc.)
  • Proficiency in general computer applications

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of the Mortgage Banking’s Quality Assurance (QA) program and coordinate loan file collection for audit or examination.
  • Assemble and provide necessary files and/or documentation for QA reviews by internal & external party(ies).
  • Review and analyze cause of errors. Communicate QA findings, deficiencies, conditions and outcomes to department staff for future preparation, knowledge sharing and compliance with policies, procedures, state & federal rules, etc.
  • Perform internal quality assurance review of files tested by external vendors in accordance with MBD’s Post Closing QA Program and service agreements.
  • Develop and perform internal quality assurance reviews in accordance with company policies and procedures to comply with all related Federal & State Laws, agency and client guidelines and requirements. Document areas of non-compliance with the organizations Policy and Procedures.
  • Prepares reports of findings explaining errors and citing appropriate defects that do not align with internal policies, investor guidelines, compliance or applicable regulations. Maintain records and correspondence related to the work.
  • Participates in review of policies and procedures to provide the department with information for continuous quality improvement. Practices on-the-job quality improvement by leading, facilitating, or recommending improvements.
  • Execute the responsibilities as assigned by the Compliance Control Manager, including special projects and assignments.
