About the position

The Complex Service Technician II role at Johnson Controls involves performing system service and maintenance, including preventative maintenance, commissioning, and installation of various electronic control systems. The position requires troubleshooting complex electronic malfunctions and ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction through effective communication and service delivery. Technicians will also mentor and train others while adhering to safety standards and promoting system enhancements.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assigned system service and maintenance including preventative maintenance, commissioning, and installation.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with security systems such as intrusion, access control, IP video, intercom, network, gates, and barriers.
  • Diagnose and repair complex electronic control system malfunctions.
  • Provide sketches of field changes and discrepancies for engineering corrections.
  • Communicate with customers upon arrival and before leaving the work site to ensure satisfaction.
  • Meet regularly with customers to understand operating problems and recommend system enhancements.
  • Manage assigned work to meet professional execution and customer satisfaction.
  • Report problems or changes to management immediately.
  • Interface with branch manager, service manager, and subcontractors to coordinate project activities.
  • Adhere to all safety standards and provide safety awareness on work sites.
  • Provide training to customers on electronic control systems operations.
  • Deliver manuals and documentation for customer training needs.
  • Mentor and train mechanical workforce on building automation systems.
  • Compile job documentation such as certificates of completion and training forms.
  • Conduct self-study to improve technical proficiency and complete required certifications.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years of industry experience or experience in servicing electronic systems.
  • Knowledge of low voltage control systems and peripheral equipment installation.
  • Effective interpersonal skills to represent Johnson Controls professionally.
  • Ability to explain technical information to both technical and non-technical individuals.
  • Leadership skills to support technicians and subcontractors on job sites.
  • PC experience and ability to program various systems including American Dynamics, Avigilon, Lenel, Genetec, Kantech, and Amag.

Nice-to-haves

  • Vocational School four-year program or an Associate degree in electronics, systems, or computer technology.
  • Five years of experience in servicing the electronic industry.
  • Proficiency in networking and service software.
