About the position

The Compensation and Benefits Specialist at Tigua Inc. is responsible for the administration, analysis, and continuous improvement of the company's compensation and benefits programs. This role supports the HR team in ensuring fair pay practices, effective benefits administration, and compliance with relevant regulations. The ideal candidate will have experience in compensation and benefits administration, a commitment to accuracy, and a focus on enhancing employee satisfaction through meaningful rewards programs.

Responsibilities

  • Administer the company's compensation programs, including processing salary adjustments and reviewing job classifications.
  • Conduct regular compensation benchmarking to evaluate salary competitiveness and recommend adjustments as needed.
  • Support the annual merit review process by preparing compensation data and coordinating with department managers.
  • Maintain accurate compensation records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and tribal regulations.
  • Manage day-to-day benefits administration, including health, dental, vision, life insurance, and retirement programs.
  • Serve as a point of contact for employees regarding benefits inquiries and assist with enrollment and changes.
  • Collaborate with benefit providers to manage annual open enrollment and ensure plan compliance.
  • Track and analyze benefits utilization data to optimize offerings and improve employee satisfaction.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and tribal employment laws and prepare necessary regulatory filings.
  • Develop and distribute informational materials to educate employees on their compensation and benefits options.
  • Conduct onboarding and ongoing training sessions for employees regarding benefits and enrollment processes.
  • Identify opportunities to improve or streamline compensation and benefits processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred; relevant work experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • 2+ years of experience in compensation and/or benefits administration, preferably within a government contracting or tribally-owned organization.
  • Familiarity with HR regulations, including FLSA, ACA, ERISA, OFCCP, and SCA.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency in ADP WorkforceNow and CostPoint; experience with compensation or benefits administration software is a plus.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a customer service-oriented approach.
  • High attention to detail and ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity.

Nice-to-haves

  • Certification in HR or payroll (e.g., PHR, SHRM-CP, FPC, CPP).
  • Experience working within a tribal enterprise or knowledge of tribal employment laws.
  • Experience with employee education programs related to compensation and benefits.
