About the position

The Compensation Analyst at Rush University Medical Center plays a crucial role in developing and executing compensation programs, tools, and processes. This position involves conducting analyses of jobs, wages, salaries, and incentives to ensure internal equity, external competitiveness, and legal compliance of the organization's pay practices. The analyst will also assist in implementing compensation training and projects while exemplifying the organization's mission, vision, and values.

Responsibilities

  • Supports entities within the Rush University System for Health on compensation policies, programs, and practices.
  • Serves as a subject matter expert on smaller projects supporting compensation initiatives.
  • Identifies opportunities for enhancement and change in compensation programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Assists with implementing approved changes to processes and policies.
  • Conducts job evaluation analyses and evaluates positions using standard job evaluation techniques.
  • Conducts internal and external equity analyses and presents written recommendations based on analysis and budgetary considerations.
  • Partners with entity HR leaders to consult on departmental requests, providing options and solutions while ensuring alignment across all entities.
  • Conducts market studies as needed, creating cost-effective solutions and presenting proposals to management.
  • Assists in developing solutions for complex compensation-related issues within the medical center.
  • Manages compensation data subscribed to in PayFactors and maintains the survey portfolio.
  • Assists in preparing budget estimates for survey expenses and coordinates work with outside consultants regarding special surveys or wage studies.
  • Partners with entity HR leaders to revise job descriptions using data from various sources.
  • Works with HRIS to ensure updates regarding compensation-related HR data in the system of record.
  • Participates as a compensation subject matter expert on system implementations impacting compensation.
  • Assists in managing the annual performance evaluation and merit increase process.
  • Coordinates the flow of data from departments to approvers and HR.
  • Manages the annual update of medical center salary structures based on benchmark survey data analysis.
  • Assists with education, training, and quality audit activities to ensure compliance with Joint Commission Human Resource Standards.
  • Serves as an expert resource to others in the department and throughout the medical center regarding pay decisions and compensation guideline interpretation.
  • Reviews and recommends changes to compensation policies and procedures.
  • Focuses on process automation for compensation administrative tasks.
  • Completes special projects and other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Undergraduate Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • Advanced Excel and Word skills
