About The Position

Fifth District, Department of Corrections is seeking a highly motivated, skilled Community Corrections Supervisor for Fort Des Moines Correctional Facility. This position will be assigned weeks on the on-call rotation and must have availability outside of normal business hours to assist staff and community partners. The current schedule is 5 days per week, 4:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. The schedule will be determined by supervisor due to maintaining the efficiency of governmental operations.

Requirements

• Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in any field, and experience equal to four years of full-time work in human services, criminal justice, or corrections.
• A total of eight years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in number one), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university coursework in any field equals one year of full-time experience.
• Current, continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes six months of full-time work as a Probation/Parole Officer 3.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop a team of residential officers to ensure effective client supervision and professional growth.
• Manage staffing schedules, leave requests, performance evaluations, and daily facility operations.
• Provide direct mentorship through regular meetings, feedback, and training on correctional best practices.
• Ensure compliance with safety policies and respond to emergencies with appropriate interventions.
• Oversee continuous quality improvement efforts, monitoring staff development and client outcomes.
