About The Position

Minneapolis College, a vibrant and inclusive two-year community college in Minnesota, is accepting applications for a temporary, part-time instructor in our Political Science Department within the School of Liberal Arts and Cultures. This is an opportunity for a teaching position during the Fall Semester of the 2026 - 2027 academic year that may be renewed for the 2027 Spring Semester at the discretion of the Dean of the School of Liberal Arts and Cultures.

Requirements

  • Must possess or meet minimum qualifications for the Minnesota State colleges and universities credential field of Political Science, #500019.
  • Master's degree with a major in political science or Master's degree in any discipline/field with a minimum of 18 graduate semester credits (27 graduate quarter credits) in political science.
  • Current and former employees must be in good standing with Minneapolis College to be considered for the position.
  • All applicants must be able to lawfully accept employment in the United States at the time of employment.
  • Minneapolis College does not sponsor visas.

Nice To Haves

  • Community College Experience – two or more years of teaching experience in a community or combined community and technical college
  • Autonomous classroom teaching experience with American Politics, World Politics, and/or Constitutional Law
  • Demonstrated teaching in multiple modalities, including fully online and blended models.
  • Evidence of a strong and clear understanding of and commitment to equity-informed pedagogical practices.
  • Commitment to continuous professional development in pedagogy.
  • An interest in contributing to our Transformation and Reentry Through Education and Community (TREC) program by teaching courses inside Stillwater, Lino Lakes, and/or Faribault Correctional Facilities

Responsibilities

  • Deliver instruction in multiple modalities, including on campus, blended, and synchronous and asynchronous online formats.
  • Provide quality teaching in assigned field of study to a very diverse student population in both in-person and online modalities.
  • Develop and revise instructional materials.
  • Assess student outcomes at the course, department, and College levels.
  • Establish, cultivate, and maintain collegial and cooperative work relationships with instructors in the Political Science Department, the Department’s administrators, academic advisors, and support staff, and all College personnel.
  • Participate actively in the College community through PSCI Department and School of Business and Economics meetings.
  • Utilize campus technology to connect to faculty, staff, and students.
  • Participate in ongoing professional development activities and professional association memberships.
