About the position

The Communications & Engagement Coordinator of the Center for Community Engagement & Leadership Development will report to the Director of Community Engagement & Leadership Development. The coordinator will work closely with faculty, community partners, students, and other interested individuals to develop and maintain community engagement and leadership opportunities on campus and in the community. The coordinator will primarily communicate and market Center for Community Engagement programs and opportunities, engage in logistics and event coordination alongside WE LEAD issue teams, and support the Wesleyan Service Scholars program.

Responsibilities

  • Build and execute a content plan that advances CCE goals.
  • Produce a monthly e-newsletter featuring student-written stories for alumni & friends.
  • Create, schedule, and monitor social media that inspires students to serve and lead.
  • Maintain relationships with 20 + nonprofit partners; match campus talent with community needs.
  • Share partner updates and capacity needs with students and staff.
  • Provide comprehensive support to Wesleyan Service Scholars by advising them on community placements, monitoring compliance with scholarship requirements, and fostering their holistic development through semesterly check-in meetings and continuous relationship-building efforts.
  • Reinforcing recruitment efforts to affinity groups in the region in cooperation with Admissions for the Wesleyan Service Scholar and Active in Community Engagement programs.
  • Supporting the WE LEAD peer leadership council teams through team consultations, logistics support, facilitating team evaluations, advising students through individual check-in meetings, recruitment, orientations/retreats, and programming.
  • Advertising positions, communicating with community partners, collecting time records, and placing students in community-based work-study positions.
  • Supporting assessment procedures for CCE programs through data entry and program analysis.
  • Coordinating and supporting annual service events on campus, including Division II Day, Upshur County Children's Festival, Trick-or-Treat for Canned Goods, and others as needed.
  • Supporting workshops and training sessions relevant to community engagement and leadership development for other campus departments.
  • Managing service and community engagement opportunities through calendar and marketing support.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree is required for the position.
  • 1-3 years of relevant work experience is preferred.

Nice-to-haves

  • 1-3 years' hands-on experience with marketing and social media management.
  • Strong writing/editing skills and an eye for compelling visuals utilizing Canva.
  • Basic analytics of platform insights.
  • Comfort in working with a wide audience, such as donors, alumni, community partners, and students.
  • Leadership development knowledge and programming experience.
  • Coaching with an emphasis on holistic student wellness.
