About the position

The Commercial Paint Manager position is responsible for oversight of the commercial paint department sales and service functions in the assigned store location. The candidate must possess a competent level of commercial paint products and uses, customer service, departmental merchandising, and overall store operation competencies. The duties of this position are to be performed while demonstrating and encouraging Sunshine Ace Hardware's core values.

Responsibilities

  • Efficient, personalized delivery of commercial paint services in a high-touch, high-energy environment
  • Oversees daily operations of commercial paint sales in assigned location
  • Responsible for providing legendary customer service in accordance with Sunshine's standards
  • Excellent and proven product-use planning and ordering
  • Possess product knowledge related to commercial painting projects, paint applications and warranties, and related sundries
  • Receive, stock, and merchandise paint and related products according to store procedures
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills while interacting with a diverse customer base as well as the store management team and store associates
  • Work independently while creating a team atmosphere, both with store associates and management
  • Recommends products for commercial paint usages and actively promotes add-on sales through suggestive selling techniques when assisting customers with projects
  • Maintain a working knowledge of merchandise available, product usage, and store location in order to provide customers with courteous and accurate information
  • Demonstrate the understanding of daily shelf maintenance and retail operations including sales goals, pricing, margins, and profit
  • Assist customers in choosing paint colors by using available color selection tools including paint chips
  • Effectively handle paint and related spills
  • Dispense and mix paint to a specific color chip or to match a customer's item

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Business Management or Retail Management AND a minimum of five (5) years of directly related experience; OR, Associate Degree and seven (7) years of progressively responsible and directly related experience
  • Knowledge of commercial paint ordering, sampling, product shrink, and waste control measures and processes, and product receiving and transfer processes, and expense control
  • Extensive experience in commercial paint/coating sales and service
  • Ability to mix and dispense paint in large quantities for commercial customers' project
  • Understand the commercial customer draw-down process and possess the ability to maintain related documentation
  • Ability to maintain the commercial paint industry and awareness of Sunshine's brand offerings
  • Possess exceptional color matching skills
  • Exceptional customer service and written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic accounting experience
  • Fluent in English, additional language (Spanish) skills a plus
