About The Position

Construction One, a family-owned General Contractor with 45 years in business and licensed in all 50 states, is seeking experienced commercial superintendents. This role involves working locally in Central, Ohio, and occasional travel nationwide. The ideal candidate will have experience in ground-up commercial construction projects (e.g., gas stations, restaurants, banks, daycares, retail stores) and/or significant experience with tenant improvement work for high-end retailers and restaurants. The Superintendent is responsible for the on-site coordination and management of all construction activities, supervising field personnel to ensure projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and to the customer's satisfaction, while maintaining high quality and safety standards.

  • Proven track record of meeting and exceeding deadlines
  • Knowledge of safety procedures and regulations
  • Excellent communication skills and attention to detail
  • Experience both in union and non-union environments
  • Experience and comfortable with technology and software programs related to the construction industry
  • Must be willing and able to travel anywhere in the country at any time.
  • Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record
  • Able to pass a background check and drug screen

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Procore is a plus.
  • Ideal candidate will have experience in one or more of the following areas: ground-up construction, renovations, retail chains, flagship or restaurants
  • OSHA 30-hour training preferred (we will pay for your OSHA 30 if you don't have it)

Responsibilities

  • Become familiar with plans, specifications, site, local codes, local officials and inspection procedures
  • Set up field office, communications, temporary services and trash removal as required
  • Assist Project Manager in developing the project schedule
  • Schedule all subcontractors and deliveries as needed to meet the project schedule
  • Schedule and attend all required inspections
  • Complete and submit all paperwork as required
  • Establish and maintain benchmarks and reference points for ongoing layout of work
  • Work with owner, owner’s rep, architect and subcontractors to resolve any conflicts that may arise and communicate any such conflicts immediately to Project Manager
  • Communicate, implement and enforce company safety policy as it pertains to assigned project
  • Attend job meetings and/or any other meetings that may be required for the successful and timely completion of the project
  • Attend walk through at job completion to ascertain punch list
  • Facilitate weekly safety meetings at jobsite
  • Execute punch list in a timely manner and obtain all necessary signed acknowledgments
  • Close out field office and project as necessary
  • Attend all meetings and training as required
  • Travel to the home office as needed for training, meetings, etc.
  • Communicate proactively and often with all parties involved in the project
  • Other duties as assigned / needed
