About the position

The Commercial Construction Project Engineer (PE) role at HITT Contracting Inc. is designed for recent graduates and veterans who are passionate about construction management. This position offers a one-year immersive training program that focuses on hands-on learning, mentorship, and professional development, with a clear path to promotion as an assistant-level project manager or superintendent. The PE will gain practical experience on-site, learning the day-to-day operations of construction projects while adhering to HITT's core values and commitment to quality and safety.

Responsibilities

  • Commit to being fully onsite for the duration of the 12-month training program to shadow and learn from experienced professionals.
  • Demonstrate understanding of training topics and participate in performance reviews every four months.
  • Follow directions and coaching from the Futures Program Sponsor.
  • Communicate clearly and professionally with various stakeholders.
  • Organize and manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • Demonstrate integrity and align with HITT's core values.
  • Seek continuous improvement and take initiative for self-development.
  • Adapt to changes in construction technology and methods.
  • Collaborate with diverse teams and maintain professional relationships.
  • Exhibit punctuality, engagement, and respect in all interactions.
  • Master job-specific skills to promote to assistant superintendent or project manager after training.
  • Set up and maintain jobsite office and records, including project directories and daily reports.
  • Make updates to as-built drawings and interpret coordination drawings.
  • Direct installation of site protection and ensure safety before demolition.
  • Assist in construction tasks and participate in site inspections for quality assurance.
  • Update project schedules and complete material take-offs as directed.
  • Assist in logistical tasks, including budgeting and client management.
  • Conduct safety meetings and complete safety reports as required.

Requirements

  • High school diploma required.
  • Military experience or a four-year degree in Construction, Engineering, Architecture, or Business preferred.
  • Previous experience on commercial job sites preferred.
  • Passion for the construction industry and on-site work.
  • Ability to learn sector-specific software systems, including Microsoft Office 365, ProCore, Adobe Suite, BlueBeam, and JD Edwards.
  • Ability to walk and/or stand for long periods.
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
